Young People Invited to Join VAPE Coalition
Work with peers to reduce youth vaping
Participants are eligible for up to $2,000 in scholarships!
Wood County youth who are between the ages of 14-25 years are invited to participate in the V.A.P.E. Coalition (Vaping Awareness and Prevention Education). This group is focused on educating and training young people about the harmful effects of vaping and nicotine use to become champions of change in their communities.
Meetings for the 2024-2025 school year are held the first Monday of the month from 5-6 p.m. at the Wood County Health Department. Meetings will continue through July 2025. The first meeting of the V.A.P.E. Coalition is scheduled on October 7, 2024.
Students who attend will have the opportunity to meet regularly with peers and community leaders, learn about the health effects of vaping and using other nicotine products, develop educational materials to use in educating their peers and adults about vaping and deliver educational presentations at community events.
Additionally, scholarships will be awarded to program participants. Meals will be provided during the meetings. This is a fantastic opportunity to meet new people, earn money towards school or other activities, and gain experience.
If you know a youth who may be interested in participating, let them know about the event. They can call or text Dr. Ishmael Tagoe at 419-329-8464 or email: itagoe@woodcountyohio.gov to let him know they will be there.
