GENERAL SUMMARY DESCRIPTION: Under the general supervision of a Dentist and using established dental hygiene protocols and procedures, the Dental Hygienist provides professional, high-quality dental care and education to a broad range of patients within the scope of service consistent with accepted standards of care. This position offers support where needed to ensure smooth, efficient running of Dental Health Services with in the Health Center and participates in the ongoing evaluation of operations to assure the delivery of high-quality services that support the financial sustainability. Evaluates patients and implements treatment regimens under the supervision of the Dentist. Provides complete documentation of all findings, treatments and outcomes.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
• Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) from an accredited school of dental hygiene program with a current license to practice in the state of Ohio
• CPR certification
• Valid Ohio driver’s license
• Proof of automobile insurance
• Clear record with Ohio State Dental Board
• The ability to successfully pass a background check
• Prior experience in a Federally Qualified Health Care Center (FQHC) is preferred

Contracted Vaccination Ancillary

Independent Contractor for Wood County Health Department

Overview

This independent contractor position will support the COVID-19 vaccine clinics hosted and supported by Wood County Health Department (WCHD).  This position will be trained to perform any role that does not require a license to administer vaccine.

Selected candidates will be paid $100 per vaccine clinic.  Currently, WCHD is operating clinics 4 – 5 days per week, and clinics typically operate 4 – 6 hours.  Additional clinics/days could be added in the future.  

Job Duties

  • Manage patient records in the electronic systems used by WCHD, e.g. ArmorVax.  
  • Collect and secure forms that contain protected health information.  
  • Conduct patient screening, in accordance with WCHD procedures.
  • Support clinic flow and patient movement.
  • Manage paperwork and supplies, e.g. clipboards, pens, etc.
  • Sanitize seats and other commonly touched items/surfaces.  
  • Monitor vaccine supplies, in coordination with the clinical team, and communicate remaining inventory to the clinic supervisor and to the public, as assigned.  
  • Manage the on-call list and contact individuals on that list if and when there are additional doses to be used at the end of the clinic.  
  • Transport clinic supplies, as assigned.  
  • Support setup and teardown, as needed.  
  • Conduct other, assigned duties to ensure the vaccine clinic runs smoothly.  

 

Skills and Qualifications

  • Must safeguard protected health information and follow all related policies.
  • Must be willing to travel to and work at clinic locations throughout Wood County.  
  • Must be able to work 4 – 6 hours, with limited breaks.    
  • Ideal candidate will be available for 3+ clinics per week.  
  • Ideal candidate will have experience, training or course work in public health, the medical field, emergency response/management, computer science, customer relations, social services, or other related field.
  • Ideal candidate will have previous experience working/volunteering at vaccine clinics.

 

Additional Details

  • This is an independent contractor position.  Selected candidates will not be employees of Wood County Health Department, will not be eligible for benefits, will not accrue OPERS time, and will not be eligible for unemployment when the vaccination campaign ends.  
  • Candidates must complete and pass a background check before they will be selected.  
  • Selected candidates must acquire personal liability insurance.  
  • Selected candidates will receive paid training in advance of their first vaccine clinic.
