Wood County Health Department works closely with Wood County medical providers to ensure that every child has the access to immunizations. Please visit your healthcare provider for information about immunizations. If your provider does not offer immunizations, the Wood County Health Department provides them for children birth through age 18.
Appointments can be made by calling 419-354-9049. We accept Medicaid and many private insurances. No child is turned away from Vaccines For Children (VFC) vaccines if their family is unable to pay for the shots.

Prior to vaccination, an eligible nurse or other health care professionals will speak to you and assess your eligibility based on criteria established by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices and in accordance with the FDA’s Approved Spikevax Package Insert (dated 8/2025).
The virus that causes COVID-19, SARS-CoV-2, is always changing and protection from COVID-19 vaccines declines over time. Receiving an updated COVID-19 vaccine can restore and enhance protection against the virus variants currently responsible for most infections and hospitalizations in the United States.
Vaccine Safety
Vaccines currently authorized for use in the U.S. are safe and effective. These vaccines have undergone and will continue to undergo the most intensive safety monitoring in U.S. history.
Kathy Teeple earned her Associate of Applied Science in Nursing from Owens Technical College in 1992. Her nursing career has spanned from pediatrics to senior citizens. She has worked in two area pediatrics practices in Wood County as well as the Wood County Committee on Aging before starting her career in public health here at the Wood County Health Department in 2012. She has experience in immunizations and immunization education for Wood County Practices, infectious disease investigations and many years of experience with home visits to provide services to children and senior citizens. Kathy is passionate about all aspects of immunization and disease investigations to help protect our population.
