Wood County Health Department mark

Project First Line

WCHD was awarded funds through Project Firstline for coordination of regional activities to educate local healthcare facilities in infection prevention in collaboration with Toledo-Lucas County Health Department and Hancock Public Health. As the primary agency on the grant, Wood County Health Department has lead efforts in coordinating training, developing content and conducting training sessions at long term care facilities and hospitals participating in the program.

Promotional graphic for a fatherhood event. On the right, a father carries a young child on his shoulders. Both wear red superhero-style eye masks, and the child wears a cape and raises a fist as if flying. On the left, large navy-blue text reads: “Growing Together: A Fatherhood Celebration.” The background is a soft, light blue with a faded photo effect.

Growing Together: A Fatherhood Celebration

Celebrate Fatherhood Month with the Growing Together Community Passport Program! Throughout June, fathers, father figures, and children can explore fun local events, family activities, and community resources across Wood County. Complete passport activities, make lasting memories together, and join us for our Growing Together: A Fatherhood Celebration—a free family event focused on connection, learning, and celebrating the important role fathers and father figures play in a child’s life.

Wood County Medical Reserve Corps

Wood County Health Department has a diverse and well-trained team dedicated to emergency preparedness. Your family should be ready in advance of an emergency. Use resources from ready.gov to build an emergency kit, create your plan and be informed.

You may need to survive without assistance for a period of time during or after a severe emergency. Basic services such as electricity, gas, water, sewage treatment, and telephones may not be available. You should be prepared with at least three days’ worth of food, water and other necessities for each member of your household (and your pets). Learn about additional items to consider adding to your emergency supply kit via the link below.

Before an emergency happens, discuss with your family how you will get in contact with each other, where you will go and what you will do in an emergency. Keep a copy of this plan in your emergency supply kit or another safe place where you can access it in the event of a disaster.

Different types of emergencies require different types of preparation. Know what disasters and hazards could affect your area, how to get emergency alerts, and where you would go if you and your family need to evacuate.  Make sure your family has a plan and practices it often.
