Introducing the Wood County Health Department Mobile Health Center

The Wood County Health Department is proud to introduce our Mobile Health Center—a modern approach to keeping our community healthy. This fully equipped mobile unit provides free preventive health screenings, including:

  • Blood Pressure
  • Blood Sugar
  • Cholesterol Checks

Prevention is powerful. Along with screenings, we share practical tips and trusted resources to help reduce the spread of infectious diseases and promote long-term wellness.

Registered Nurse

Joe Miklavic earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science from Bowling Green State University in 2004, and his Associate’s Degree in Nursing from Owens Community College in 2022. After earning his RN license, he worked as a nurse at a local hospital on the medical/surgical unit where he earned numerous Daisy Award nominations. Currently, he keeps active both his BLS and ACLS certifications.  Joe began working as a Public Health Nurse for the Wood County Health Department in June 2026 with his main focus including both the Mobile Health Center and Family Connects Ohio.  He values having a safe, healthy, and flourishing community where individuals are given the tools and resources to navigate life.

  • Heart disease is the leading cause of death in Wood County
  • 64% of community survey respondents reported having at least one chronic health condition or disability
GOALS
  • By January 1, 2027, enhance community-based health screening programs to improve the identification and management of chronic conditions.
  • By December 1, 2027, identify educational resources, toolkits, and programs to support the prevention and management of chronic disease, including post-screening, future steps, prevention, and connection to healthcare.
