Grant Funding for Specific Projects
Help Reduce the Spread of COVID-19 and Other Infectious Diseases
This program is temporarily on hold.
Wood County Health Department (WCHD) is excited to announce grant funding opportunities designed to help reduce the spread of COVID-19 and other infectious diseases in our community. We’re proud to support projects that improve public health safety, and we are here to help local businesses, schools, and organizations enhance their facilities. This funding is available for three key initiatives: touchless water bottle fill stations, handwashing or mop sinks, and HVAC cleaning services.
- Installation of Touchless Indoor Water Bottle Fill Stations
To make our community safer and more convenient for everyone, WCHD will be supporting the installation of touchless water bottle fill stations. A plumbing company contracted by WCHD will conduct an initial site assessment in Spring 2025, and installations are expected to take place between June and September 2025. This simple addition can reduce contact with shared surfaces and help minimize the risk of spreading infectious diseases.
- Installation of Handwashing or Mop Sinks
Funding is also available for the installation of handwashing stations or mop sinks. If you’re interested in applying, the first step is to obtain three bids for the installation, then fill out our easy survey. Once the application period closes, we will notify applicants about reimbursement eligibility and guide you through the next steps. All applicants will be notified in November about their approval.
- HVAC Cleaning Services
Another critical way to keep spaces safe is by maintaining clean air. WCHD is offering funding to support HVAC cleaning services, which help improve indoor air quality and reduce the spread of airborne diseases. As with the sink installations, applicants will need to gather three bids before completing the survey. The amount of funding available will depend on the number of applications we receive. Once the application period ends, WCHD will notify applicants of the reimbursement amount they are eligible for in November.
Priority Considerations
We understand that certain locations, like schools, community centers, and healthcare facilities, play a vital role in supporting our community. Priority will be given to sites with high foot traffic, especially those that serve vulnerable or at-risk populations, or those that face challenges in completing these improvements on their own.
If you’re interested in applying for this grant funding, make sure to submit your application within the specified timeline. These improvements are an important step in continuing to safeguard our communities, and WCHD is excited to support local facilities in these efforts.
