Meet Our Providers

John T. Coates, DO

Dr. Coates has been working with Wood County Community Health Center since 2019 and has served as Medical Director for Wood County Health Department since 2022. Prior to coming to Wood County Community Health Center, he treated patients through his family practice for nine years and served as staff physician at Wood County Hospital for 10 years. He is a graduate of Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Erie, Pa., and completed his residency at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo.

Dr. Coates is committed to serving the patients of Wood County Community Health Center, stating that, “I believe that medicine is a calling. It is a privilege to serve all who put their trust in us. At the Wood County Community Health Center, we have an opportunity to serve everyone, including those struggling with financial, social and psychosocial barriers to care. It is in this service of those struggling for even basic health care that we find the best in ourselves and each other.”


Bushra Aouthmany, DDS

Dr. Bushra Aouthmany has served as Chief Dental Officer at Wood County Community Health Center since 2019. Prior to this role, she served as general dentist at the University of Illinois of Chicago/University of Illinois Health and the Toledo/Lucas County Health Department, where she honed her skills in providing comprehensive dental services and understanding diverse healthcare needs.

With her extensive experience in providing quality dental care, especially to economically disadvantaged populations, Dr. Aouthmany has been instrumental in transforming dental services in the community. She has pioneered the integration of behavioral and oral health in her practice, recognizing the interconnection between mental health and dental health to address the comprehensive needs of her patients.

Dr. Aouthmany holds a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree form The Ohio State University and is currently pursuing an MBA with a focus on Public Health Administration at the University of Toledo. She is also a participant in the NNOHA Oral Health Leadership Institute.


Renee Groman, MSSA, LISW-S

Renee Groman serves as Behavioral Health Manager at Wood County Community Health Center, working with people of all ages including children and youth. Over the past 25 years, Renee has served in a variety of roles in community mental health, providing individual, group and family therapy as well as counseling for substance use disorders. She has experience across a variety of agencies and organizations including hospitals, mental health facilities and schools. Renee served as a Director with Harbor in Toledo Public Schools from 2001 to 2019.

Renee holds a Masters in Social Administration from Case Western University and a Bachelor of Science in Social Work from Bowling Green State University. Renee is passionate about working with people of all ages and backgrounds to help them overcome challenges. “I believe in the value of building relationships with all people to help them overcome challenges and positively impact their lives.”

 

Dr. Nancy Carroll

Dr. Carroll is a board-certified psychiatrist with over 40 years of experience in behavioral health care, specializing in the mental health needs of children with developmental challenges. She has a strong background in family therapy, patient care, and addiction treatment.

Dr. Carroll earned her medical degree from the University of Toledo College of Medicine in 1979 and completed her residency and fellowship in child psychiatry at the University of Toledo Medical Center. She has received numerous recognitions, including the Practitioner of the Year Award from the National Alliance on Mental Illness and selection as one of America’s Best Doctors by the American Health Council. She is a distinguished fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and has served as national committee chair for the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.

Dr. Carroll maintains affiliations with several medical institutions, including UTMC, St. Luke’s Hospital, and ProMedica Toledo Hospital. Recently, she had the honor of speaking at the National Perinatal Association’s conference, sharing her insights and expertise with peers in the field. With her extensive experience and unwavering dedication, Dr. Carroll continues to make a significant impact in the lives of children and families navigating mental health challenges within Wood County.

Katie Barricklow, APRN-CNP, MS, Family Nurse Practitioner

Katie Barricklow is a family nurse practitioner at Wood County Community Health Center, where she has worked since 2010. Katie earned a Master’s degree in Nursing at the University of Toledo Medical Center and worked at the Wood County Pediatrics office before joining the Health Center. Earlier in her career, she worked as a dietician and has a Bachelor of Science degree in dietetics from the University of Florida.

Paul Bogner, PharmD

Paul has been serving as the managing Pharmacist for Wood County Community Health Center since 2015. Prior to joining the Health Center, Paul worked as the manager of a Kroger Pharmacy in Toledo, Ohio. Paul is a 2012 graduate of The University of Toledo Doctor of Pharmacy program.

As the Pharmacist manager, Paul oversees the day-to-day operations of all Pharmacy services. Working together in close proximity to Primary Care, Dental and Behavioral Health services allows the Pharmacy ensure all patients are getting the medicines they need at an affordable price. Additionally, the Pharmacy is able leverage government pricing programs in order to stretch scarce federal resources as far as possible. Paul believes that building relationships with all pharmacy patients not only fosters a hometown pharmacy feel, but also promotes positive health outcomes. He says, “My favorite part of being a team member at the Health Center is the opportunity to get to know all of our patients on a personal level.”
