Avian Influenza Detected in Ohio Dairy Herd

The Ohio Department of Agriculture (ODA) received confirmation from the United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) National Veterinary Services Laboratory (NVSL) of the detection of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) in a dairy cattle herd in Wood County. Older Adults Now Able to Receive Additional Dose of Updated COVID-19 Vaccine

An updated COVID-19 vaccine was released in September 2023. In February 2024, the CDC endorsed the recommendation for adults ages 65 years and older to receive an additional updated 2023-2024 COVID-19 vaccine dose. The recommendation acknowledges the increased risk of severe disease from COVID-19 in older adults, along with the currently available data on vaccine effectiveness.
