Art for Action: Youth Art Show Highlights Tobacco Prevention and Advocacy
The Wood County Health Department (WCHD), in partnership with the Children’s Resource Center (CRC), is proud to announce a virtual youth art show showcasing original artwork created as part of a powerful public health initiative funded by the Ohio Department of Health’s Tobacco Prevention and Cessation Grant.
During the 2024–2025 grant cycle, WCHD was awarded funding to implement a youth-focused project using art as a vehicle for advocating policy change. Collaborating with CRC, WCHD launched a program that empowered young people to become advocates for healthier futures.
Participants engaged in educational sessions where they learned about the risks of nicotine and tobacco use—including the rising dangers of vaping among teens—and were introduced to the power of social marketing and advocacy. As part of the program, youth were also introduced to Live Vape Free, a national campaign designed to help teens quit vaping and stay vape-free. To learn more or find support, visit livevapefree.com.
The showcase features these original pieces, along with collaborative t-shirt designs created by the students. This online event is a celebration of youth voices, resilience and the power of creative expression in shaping public health outcomes.
We welcome you in joining us to celebrate the hard work and vision of these young artists and advocates. Enjoy!
