PAY RANGE: $69.55 – $104.32 (180 Day probationary period)
WORK HOURS: 8:30 A.M. to 4:30 P.M. or comparable schedule
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Chief Executive Officer
GENERAL SUMMARY DESCRIPTION: : The person in the Physician role will be responsible for meeting, assessing and diagnosing patients in the Health Center and providing them with healthcare services that meet state and national standards for caregiving. They will be responsible for prescribing patients with appropriate medication, health regimens and lifestyle adjustments that will contribute to their recovery from diagnosed health issues, prevent future health issues and/or promote a healthier life. Responsibilities also include maintaining and improving provider productivity, organizational strategic planning, ensuring health center compliance with FQHC requirements and participation in quality improvement initiatives.
• Work with the primary healthcare team to provide patients with primary medical care services within the standard of care.
• Order laboratory and radiology tests and refer patients to specialists when appropriate and called for.
• Analyze reports, test results, medical records and examinations to diagnose condition of patients and propose treatment options.
• Prescribe pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens to treat identified and documented medical conditions.
• Discuss potential side effects of medication/treatment with patients and ensure that all allergy information is up-to-date before prescribing medication/treatment.
• Provide advice to patients for lifestyle and diet changes that may improve their health or help to treat the health issue they are experiencing.
• Adhere to departmental policies, procedures and objectives, ongoing quality improvement objectives and safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with all federal and state health information privacy laws.
• Ensures compliance with FQHC requirements and participation in quality improvement initiatives.
• Consults with staff regarding the development of programs implemented within the Health Center.
• Assesses and treats clients referred by nurse practitioner, as needed.
• Accurately utilizes EHR for documentation and billing of all data related to patient care
• Collaborates with Chief Medical Officer, Family Nurse Practitioner, Behavioral Health Specialist and Pharmacist in Charge on projects and services.
Assistant Medical Director’s Duties: Perform the duties and responsibilities of the Medical Director in the absence of the Health Department Medical Director or when the Medical Director needs additional assistance.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS: • Qualified employees shall possess the following:
• Current, valid Ohio Doctor of Medicine license
• A minimum of five (5) years’ experience.
• Prior experience in a FQHC is preferred.
• Valid Ohio driver’s license.
• Proof of automobile insurance.
• Proof of malpractice coverage
• Clear record with Ohio Board of Medical Examiners
• Knowledge of public health laws, regulations and standards as defined by federal, state and local governments
• The ability to successfully pass a background check
